my mum wanted to knock through the wall between the dining room and the lounge area after pondering about it for sometime she finally did it. the lounge is not a very big room and having a corner sofa, coffee table and large fire place the room looks even less spacious. now we are lucky enough to have a dining room, completely separate from the kitchen it was a place where we had a large table and to be honest never used it. being a busy family we rarely got the chance to all sit down together and enjoy a family meal cooked by my mum it was just a case of grab a piece of toast and out the door. so the space in there was just going to waste and it was space we would greatly benefit from having it in the lounge area. so we solved the problem by knocking right through and having it all as one room. the dining area also has large french doors which lead into the garden so this was another feature to have as we could then see this from the living room. however we then found a problem. the once cosy warm room suddenly became cold and drafty. this then ruined the whole point of making the lounge bigger, so once again we all discussed ways to solve this problem without defeating the object completely and rebuilding the wall having a small door leading between. in the end we decided on Aluminium Folding Doors, very large and clear they allowed you to have the choice of open or closed and through the Aluminium Folding Doors the other room could be seen so it still gave that spacous feel to it. the Aluminium Folding Doors made the room open and also lighter as we had the added light from the doors leading to the garden in the dining area.
